The Manchester-Shortsville CSD (Red Jacket Schools) is seeking candidates for this position for 2026-2027:

 

Elementary Special Education Teacher (K-5) - Probationary

Start Date: September 2, 2026

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate strong classroom management skills

  • Employ positive and therapeutic behavioral intervention strategies

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students

  • Collect data to monitor student progress and drive instructional decisions

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and support staff

  • Participate in Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings

  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff

  • Provide specially designed instruction in accordance with student needs

  • Carry out all other duties as assigned

Classroom Responsibilities:

  • Meet and instruct assigned students in the locations and at the times designated

  • Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning

  • Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor

  • Maintain standards of student behavior that support a positive learning environment

  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media appropriate to student needs

  • Implement the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals through instruction and action

  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities

General Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation

  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy

  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings, CSE meetings, and professional learning activities

  • Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods

  • Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials

  • Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their families concerning academic and behavioral progress

  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues, administrators, and community members

Additional Requirements:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth through ongoing learning opportunities, workshops, conferences, and coursework

  • Support the District's mission, vision, and commitment to student success

  • Carry out any other assigned duties and responsibilities deemed appropriate by the Superintendent of Schools and Board of Education

Job Details:

  • 7.5-hour day

  • 10-month school calendar position

  • Probationary appointment

  • Comprehensive benefits package

Salary:
Per RJFA contract, minimum $47,035, commensurate with experience.
